Visions Film Festival & Conference is an international undergraduate-run event. As a result of the pandemic, we pivoted Visions 10 from a one day in-person event to a five-day virtual experience with a take-home PR package. Our theme centered around Pop Art. I was the Hospitality & Outreach Assistant and completed extra projects with the Art Department.

POSTERS

AFTER PARTY

I was given video footage from the band’s performance and used Adobe Illustrator to modify screen shots of each band member. I developed a vintage band poster style to work around the low-resolution photos. My goal was to convey a fun, high energy atmosphere. I incorporated whimsical elements to capture the film festival & conference’s quirky and playful tone.

VIDEO RACE

I aimed to extend the established branding to make the poster feel fresh yet familiar. The composition was inspired by 1960s cola drink advertisements. I incorporated images of Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe because the film festival & conference had donation tiers named after them. I used both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to recolor the images, stylize the background, and add in our branded merchandise.

I designed individualized welcome cards that were included in the PR boxes. I created four different color combinations to add an extra element of personalization. I incorporated the film festival & conference’s main logo on the front and hand-drawn graphics on the back. Over 200 cards were printed.

ZOOM BACKGROUNDS

For a virtual Film Studies alumni panel event, I was tasked with designing Zoom backgrounds that embodied our Pop Art theme. I took inspiration from the photographic silkscreen print style of Andy Warhol.

Using Adobe Illustrator, I edited a photo of a camera and the UNCWilmington film building. I chose lively colors that would stand out on Zoom and social media, while making sure the design was simple enough to prevent speakers from being overpowered. Each color denoted that the speaker was either a student, alumni, or professor.

DEI WORKSHOP

I built upon the established imagery of hands that were associated with this series of virtual workshops. I created a design that would work for both an Instagram post and a Facebook event banner.
