Berks Summer Band Institute is a multi-generational summer band program for Berks County student musicians. This year their program was inspired by Queen's music and other classic rock songs. I designed this t-shirt to look like a concert shirt and took inspiration from the the colors and look of Queen's albums/posters. My goal was to design something "cool" that students would want to wear over and over again.
BERKS SUMMER BAND INSTITUTE
To differentiate my design from past club shirts, I veered away from organic imagery depicting realistic bees. Instead, I focused on the beekeeper and used a cartoon style with an edgy “0.5 camera lens” perspective to subtly convey that bee keeping is cool. To keep the costs low, I used a three-color palette where one color was the t-shirt color itself. Additionally, I took elements from the main design to create a small front pocket logo.
BEEKEEPERS CLUB
To develop my design process, I mocked up a t-shirt design for UNCWilmington’s famous annual Thanksgiving event. Influenced by UNCWilmington’s beach town location, I drew inspiration from surfboarding graphic t-shirts to create a funky and cool design that students would want to wear even after Thanksgiving.
WAGSGIVING
For UNCWilmington’s Wizard of Oz themed Homecoming Week, I was tasked with developing a design that could be printed on shirts and printed as a paint-by-number coloring page activity. UNCWilmington’s core colors are teal-green and yellow, so I worked in both Procreate and Adobe Illustrator to reimagine popular campus landmarks into the iconic Emerald City.
